Object - Located in the constellation of Eridanus at a distance of about 61 million light years.

The galaxy has a diameter of 110,000 light years and is classified as a barred face on spiral. It was discovered in 1835 by John Herschel.

It has an apparent magnitude of 11.4.

To the lower right is NGC1297 which is a barred lenticular galaxy.
