Solarmax 60Imaging the sun in Hydrogen Alpha is made easy with the Solarmax 60. The model I own is the 0.5 angstrom unit with one internal etalon and one external. The unit comes with a clam shell and a 25mm Cemax eyepiece.. If you are going to buy a solar scope, try to ensure that you get the lowest angstrom unit you can afford. In fact just make sure you get a 0.5 angstrom unit. For the extra expense you get a lot more surface detail and the prominences are still really bright. That said, this type of unit is very prone to Newtons rings due the the internal etalon placement when imaging. If you get a 0.5 angstrom unit ensure you get the two external etalon unit. To use this scope on the CGE I purchased a Losmandy short dove tail plate and two small counter weights from Robincasady. The counter weights are stainless steel and are beautifully crafted.
